Perched atop the historic Lion Hill, Amandayan offers a breathtaking escape that blends the natural beauty of Lijiang with luxurious comfort. Adam’s stay at this stunning property provided an unforgettable experience, highlighted by exceptional service, rich cultural immersion, and awe-inspiring views.

An Unmatched Location

Amandayan’s location is one of its most captivating features. Overlooking the ancient town of Lijiang, the property offers spectacular views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Each morning, I was greeted by the sight of this majestic peak, its snow-capped summit glistening in the sunlight, providing a serene and inspiring start to the day.

The service at Amandayan is nothing short of exemplary. The staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. One particular instance stands out: a member of our group needed to purchase specific items that were not readily available. Knowledgeable Guides

Amandayan’s guides are a treasure trove of knowledge, offering deep insights into the region’s culture and history. Their expertise enhanced our exploration of Lijiang, making each excursion more enriching and informative. We visited several local sites, each brought to life by the guides’ detailed stories and historical context.

The Lijiang Impressions Show

A highlight of our visit was attending the Lijiang Impressions Show, held beneath the imposing Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. This spectacular performance is a vivid portrayal of the region’s diverse tribal cultures, featuring vibrant costumes, traditional music, and captivating storytelling. The show offered a deep dive into the local heritage, making it both entertaining and educational. Tucked away in the bustling metropolis of Shanghai, Amanyangyun is a sanctuary of serenity and cultural heritage. Evelyn’s stay in June was an extraordinary experience, blending historical preservation with luxurious wellness.

A Journey Through Time

One of the most fascinating aspects of Amanyangyun is its unique origin story. The resort’s buildings and ancient camphor trees were meticulously transported from the old town of Fuzhou to Shanghai, a journey of about 800 kilometers. This remarkable feat of preservation ensures that the essence of Fuzhou’s historical and cultural heritage is maintained in this modern sanctuary. Walking through the resort, I felt a deep connection to the past, as if the ancient stones and trees were whispering stories of bygone eras.

Lakeside Leisure

The resort’s beautiful lake is a central feature, offering guests the chance to enjoy leisurely boat rides. One peaceful afternoon, I took a traditional boat ride on the lake, savoring exquisite snacks prepared by the resort’s chefs. The gentle motion of the boat, the tranquil water, and the surrounding natural beauty created an unforgettable moment of relaxation and contemplation. Furthermore, the sightings of little animals of Amanyangyun, such as deers, rabbits, ducks, and black swans keeps us entertained throughout the ride.

Family-Friendly Haven

Amanyangyun is not just a retreat for adults seeking tranquility; it is also a perfect destination for families and multi-generational travelers. The resort’s Kids Club offers a variety of activities designed to engage and entertain children, making it an ideal place for families to bond and create lasting memories. Watching children explore and learn in this safe and nurturing environment added a joyful and lively atmosphere to the serene setting.

Wellness and Relaxation

A stay at Amanyangyun is synonymous with wellness and relaxation. The resort’s tea house is a haven of calm, where I spent quiet moments sipping aromatic teas and reflecting on my surroundings. The spa at Amanyangyun is the epitome of luxury wellness, offering a range of treatments designed to rejuvenate the body and mind. My spa experience was deeply restorative, leaving me feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Cultural Immersion

Amanyangyun goes beyond luxury and wellness, providing guests with a deep cultural immersion. The resort offers various cultural activities, including calligraphy classes, tea ceremonies, and guided tours of the ancient trees and buildings. These experiences allowed me to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture and history.

“Explore the tranquil and culturally rich haven of Amanyangyun, and to discover the unique blend of history, luxury, and wellness that it offers.” – Evelyn

Located in the picturesque outskirts of Hangzhou, Amanfayun offers an extraordinary escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. My stay in June 2024 was a serene journey into the heart of traditional Chinese village life, combined with the luxury and tranquility that Aman properties are renowned for.

A Gateway to Ancient Temples

One of the standout features of Amanfayun is its strategic location, providing guests with a unique shortcut to the region’s historic temples. This includes the renowned Lingyin Temple, one of China’s most famous Buddhist temples. Instead of navigating the busy main entrance through the forested valley, we cut across to the temple’s entrance from the resort. This exclusive walkway not only saved us time but also allowed us to experience the spiritual serenity of the area without the usual crowds.

Embracing Authentic Village Life

The architecture of Amanfayun is a tribute to the original village that stood on this site centuries ago. Each stone pathway, wooden beam, and courtyard is carefully preserved or restored, maintaining the historical integrity and charm of the village. Our room was a traditional village house, complete with wooden floors, bamboo accents, and views of lush greenery. It felt like stepping back in time, yet with all the modern comforts at our fingertips.

Nature’s Symphony

One of the most enchanting aspects of Amanfayun is its tranquil setting. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the sounds of nature – birds chirping, crickets singing, and the gentle rustling of leaves. The resort’s landscape is meticulously maintained, with ancient trees and blooming flowers creating a serene and calming environment. Walking through the pathways of Amanfayun, we felt a profound sense of peace and connection to nature.

A Sanctuary of Calmness

Amanfayun is more than just a resort; it is a sanctuary where one can escape the frenetic pace of modern life. The ambiance is designed to promote relaxation and inner peace. Whether lounging in our private courtyard, meditating by the tea garden, or enjoying a cup of tea in the serene tea house, every moment at Amanfayun was a step towards calmness and rejuvenation.

“I hope to encourage others to discover the tranquil charm of Amanfayun and immerse themselves in the peaceful beauty of this exceptional retreat.” – Elle

Nestled just steps away from the East Gate of the iconic Summer Palace in Beijing, Aman Summer Palace offers a unique blend of luxury, tranquility, and history. Stella’s stay at this exquisite retreat, coinciding with the Autumn Festival, was nothing short of magical.

A Royal Welcome

One of the most remarkable benefits of staying at Aman Summer Palace is the exclusive access to the Summer Palace through a private gate. This privilege allowed us to bypass the throngs of tourists and step directly into the serene beauty of the royal gardens. The experience of walking through the private gate, feeling like honored guests of the ancient Chinese emperors, set the tone for our entire stay.

Living the Royal Lifestyle

The accommodations at Aman Summer Palace are designed to transport guests back in time to the days of the Qing Dynasty. Staying in one of the classic courtyards, offered a perfect blend of traditional Chinese architecture and modern luxury. The elegant furnishings, intricate woodwork, and serene garden views made us feel as if we were living in a royal residence.

Wandering through the courtyards and pavilions, we could easily imagine the lives of the royals who once walked these paths. The authenticity of the experience was further enhanced by the impeccable service and attention to detail provided by the Aman staff.

Cultural Immersion

During our stay, we immersed ourselves in various cultural activities offered by the resort. We participated in a traditional tea ceremony, learning about the intricate art of tea preparation and the significance of tea in Chinese culture. The on-site calligraphy classes were another highlight, providing us with a hands-on experience of this ancient art form.

“By sharing my personal experience, I hope to inspire you to explore this hidden gem and discover the magic of Aman Summer Palace for yourself.” – Stella

The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, have long fascinated travelers with their ethereal glow and vibrant displays across the polar skies. As we approach 2024 and 2025, there’s an added excitement among aurora enthusiasts. Scientific predictions suggest these years will offer some of the best opportunities to witness this natural spectacle.

Solar Cycle 25: A Promising Forecast

Solar Cycle 25, which began in December 2019, is predicted to reach its maximum around 2024-2025. This period, known as the solar maximum, is characterized by a higher number of sunspots and increased solar activity. As Dr. Lisa Upton, a solar physicist and co-chair of the Solar Cycle 25 Prediction Panel, states, “The next few years will see a significant increase in the solar wind’s intensity, leading to more opportunities for auroras” .

A study published in Geophysical Research Letters adds, “Auroral activity is directly proportional to solar wind conditions. During solar maximum, enhanced solar wind conditions drive more frequent and intense geomagnetic storms, which are conducive to auroral displays”.
