Meet your local expert guide and you will be transferred to your accommodation (approx. 15km/45mins).

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum

The museum’s standout exhibit features well-preserved corpses interred in ancient times. These bodies differ significantly from the embalmed mummies of Egypt, as they were naturally desiccated by the environment. Among them, the most renowned is the “Loulan Beauty,” dating back approximately 4,000 years.

Vibrant Urumqi

Explore Erdaoqiao Pedestrian Street and the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar, both situated in downtown Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. These vibrant hubs serve as windows for visitors to immerse themselves in the region’s rich and colorful cultures. After breakfast we check out and transfer to Urumqi Railway Station (approx. 10km/25mins), we take the train to Turpan.

You will be transferred from the train station to hotel (approx.. 10.5km/25 mins).

Karez Irrigation System & Ermin Minaret

We will visit Karez Irrigation System, a type of water conservancy system set up in the arid areas of Xinjiang and with water wells connected by underground channels. Appreciate the history of Ermin Minaret. It was built in 1778 and has a history of over 200 years.

Jiaohe Ruins

Embark on an excursion to the ancient city ruins of Jiaohe, a natural fortress atop a plateau that was an important stop on the Silk Road, and today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Jiaohe was founded by the Han Court in the 1st century B.C. and became an important garrison post, home to a cultural mix of Persian traders, Indian philosophers, Tibetan Warriors, Syrian Christians, and Han Chinese troops.

Your visit to Jiaohe Ruins will be during the sunset times, followed by a cold buffet dinner in the ruins accompanied by singing and dancing performances.

Essence of Turpan

Visit Gao Chang ruins, an ancient Chinese Silk Road garrison town, where you will be taken by golf cart to visit the temple area. Immerse in the oasis-village of Toyuk Village in the Flaming Mountain gorge which has preserved its ancient Uyghur customs and culture. Marvel at the beautiful Bezeklik Caves, and if time permits, visit the Grape Valley.

Check out in the morning, and we drive to the Jiaohe airport and take the private jet to Burjin.

Visit the Fish Viewing Pavilion. lt is known for its stunning panoramic views of the entire lake and the opportunity to observe a variety of fish species in their natural habitat.

Continue to Hemu village (approx. 103km/2hrs40mins) and have lunch.

Tuva Minority Village

Surrounded by lush birch trees, verdant hills, and the enchanting atmosphere of traditional folk life, Hemu Village is revered as one of the most beautiful villages in China, as well as the oldest and most-well-preserved Tuva minority village in China, boasting several hundred years of history. Upon arrival, we will take leisurely strolls through the village, characterized by its charming wooden huts, picturesque birch forests, and the gentle flow of the Hemu River.

If you are energetic and if time permits, we can embark on a hike to the summit of a nearby hill, offering breathtaking views of the village against the backdrop of the setting sun.

Hidden Mountain Immersion

After breakfast, depart from the campsite for an exciting journey through hidden landscapes and seek out wildlife amidst stunning scenery. The route winds through poplar valleys, border valleys, and past glaciers and snow-capped mountains, offering a feast for the senses.

Upon reaching your destination, savour an outdoor luxury lunch amidst the picturesque glacier before returning to the campsite for a well-deserved rest. If time permits, you are welcome to participate in various outdoor activities such as equestrian experiences, grassland archery, or cross-country motorcycle rides. You will also enjoy an afternoon tea in a virgin forest.

Wensu Grand Canyon

Wensu Grand Canyon is the most beautiful Danxia geological wonders in western China. It is home to China’s largest rock salt karst, the peculiar Yadan. Set in the middle of the Tianshan Mountains, it was the only road to cross between the south and north of the Tianshan post.

After breakfast check out in the morning, then we transferred to Aksu Wensu Airport (approx. 16km/30mins) take the private jet to Kashgar.

Jeep Safari: Kashgar to Tashkurgan

We change to take a convoy of 4×4 Toyota Prado from today. We will drive you from Kashgar to Tashkurgan (approx. 300km/6hrs).

You will journey into the Pamir Plateau, known as “roof of the world”. The Muz Tagh Peak tops all the mountain peaks and got the name of “the father of the icebergs”, while the White Sand Lake was formed from glacier waters in the mouth of the Boulogne River.

At an altitude of 3,600 meters in the Pamir Plateau, lies the picturesque Karakuli Lake. We will enjoy an outdoor picnic by the Karakuli Lake. Thereafter, we continue to Tashkurgan. You will enjoy a yak hot pot for dinner.

– A convoy of 4WD driving through the Tianshan Mountain Range.

– A special permit is required to go to the border region, which we will apply in advance.

Day 10 TASHKORGAN / KASHGAR

Jeep Safari: Tashkurgan to Kashgar

Head to the Golden Grass Beach for sunrise, followed by a visit the Stone City. During the Han Dynasty, this was the royal city of Puli Kingdom, one of the 36 states in the Western Regions. Follow the Panlong ancient road, with over 200 curves in the remote Pamir Darshan. This was the path passed by Xuanzang Zang (602-664) in order to attain the holy Buddhist scriptures, as popularized on “Journey to the West”.

Afterwards, cross the famous Tasha Road, passing through the mouth of the Wakhan Corridor. You will enjoy the spectacular Yarkant River and the Shimosakandi Reservoir.

Visit the Tajik villages of Ta Township. Have lunch in a Tajik home and participate in preparing barbecue, milk tea, etc. If you time your journey between 23 March to 20 April, you may potentially be able to enjoy apricot blossoms in the mountains while the Tajik herders sing and dance to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Continue drive back to Kashgar for the night.

Sunday Markets

In the morning, we can visit the livestock market (open on Sunday only), a lively place to witness the traders in a traditional environment. Thereafter, if time permits and you are interested, we can visit the Sunday Market in the city.

Faces of Kashgar

Explore the Kashgar old town. Most of the houses are of built with adobe brick, it is China’s only labyrinthine city block characterized by Islamic culture. Walking through the intricate Islamic alleys of Kashgar’s old city, you can see the craftsmen who specialize in only one craft during their lifetime. If time permits, enjoy a pot of brick tea entertained by the elderlies in the old street of Ustang Boyi. Proceed to Id Kah Mosque (China’s largest mosque) and the Mausoleum of Abjak Hoja, tomb of Emperor Qianlong’s concubine.
