*NEW* 11 DAYS YEMEN: THE FORGOTTEN JEWEL OF ARABIA (27 Jan – 06 Feb 2026)
Seiyun, Wadi Do'an, Al Mukalla, Socotra
Closed off from the world for years and difficult to access even now, Yemen remains one of the least-visited countries on Earth. But for the fortunate few who make the journey, it offers a rich tapestry of preserved architecture, mystic traditions, and landscapes that have changed little for centuries.
This expedition takes you through two astonishingly different sides of Yemen. On the mainland, explore the fabled Hadramawt Valley, where the soaring mudbrick towers of Shibam, the centuries-old mosques and madrasas of Tarim, and the remote canyon villages of Wadi Do’an reveal the architectural and cultural soul of southern Arabia. Then, fly to the island of Socotra, a land of surreal natural beauty known as the “Galápagos of the Indian Ocean.” Here, you’ll sail along untouched coastlines, walk beneath ancient Dragon’s Blood Trees, trek through hidden wadis, and wander deserts where crimson dunes fall into turquoise seas. Together, these two regions create a journey unlike anywhere else in the world.

Fly from Cairo into Seiyun (flight time subject to change), the heart of Yemen’s Hadramawt region and gateway to a land steeped in history and tradition. You will be warmly greeted by our local team at the airport before transferring to your heritage hotel. Settle in and enjoy a restful evening to prepare for the extraordinary days of discovery that lie ahead.
Visit to Seiyun’s Old Town, including the striking Al-Kathiri Palace, its vibrant market, and views of the imposing Al-Fals Palace. Continue to Tarim, a center of Islamic scholarship and home to dozens of centuries-old shrines. Explore its traditional market, elegant palace, and the famed Al-Mihdar Mosque with its 50-meter minaret.
This evening, immerse yourself in the soulful rhythms of Hadrami musicians and dancers, celebrating Yemen’s rich cultural heritage.
Step inside the ancient walled city of Shibam, famously known as Yemen’s “Manhattan of the Desert” for its remarkable skyline of mudbrick high-rises. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Shibam offers a rare glimpse into urban design from the 16th century. Explore a traditional mud palace and savor a cup of rich Yemeni Mokha coffee.
Continue through the dramatic desert landscape to Wadi Do’an, a remote valley known for its spectacular scenery and prized Sidr honey. Meet local beekeepers (subject to beekeeper’s confirmation) in Al-Hajjarain, visit the quiet village of Sif, and arrive at Haid Al-Jizil, where your clifftop hotel commands sweeping views of the valley. Take your time to enjoy sunset and the breathtaking view from the hotel.
Embark on a scenic one-hour trek descending to Hawfah, a route lined with unforgettable vistas. Then journey through the Wadi, photographing terraced settlements like Qarn Majed and visiting the historic towns of Al-Khuraiba and Ribad, ancestral home of the Bin Laden family. Enjoy a picnic in the shadow of canyon walls before continuing to Qarht Bahumaish, one of the valley’s last inhabited outposts.
Today we drive 4 hours towards the Arabian Sea coast. Arrive in Al Mukalla, a once-prosperous trading port, and dine on the region’s signature seafood dishes. Explore the Old Town, visit the 19th-century Al-Ghawizi Fortress, and photograph the scenic waters of Khoor Mukalla lagoon.
Transfer to Al-Riyan Airport for your flight to Socotra (flight time subject to change), a remote island like no other, where dragon blood trees and white sand dunes await.
Upon arrival in Socotra, begin your island experience with a visit to Hadiboh, the island’s bustling capital and cultural heart. Stroll through its lively local markets, where merchants sell spices, produce, and handmade goods. Engage with friendly locals, learn about daily island life, and soak in the distinct blend of Socotri culture and charm.
Dreamscapes of Sand & Sea
Board our private traditional fisherman’s boat to explore one of the island’s most pristine stretches of coastline. Glide past dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters en route to the secluded paradise of Shoab Beach. The journey continues to Qalansiyah Beach, one of Socotra’s most iconic beaches. With its sweeping white dunes, emerald lagoons, and dramatic cliffs, this is a place that feels lifted from another world. Enjoy a slow, peaceful afternoon- walking barefoot along the shore, napping in the shade, or simply watching seabirds glide overhead.
Leave the coast behind as we head into Socotra’s mysterious highlands. Cross Dirhur Valley and ascend to the windswept Diksam Plateau, home to the largest concentration of Dragon’s Blood Trees – umbrella-shaped giants found nowhere else on Earth. Stroll through the hauntingly beautiful Firmihin Forest, where these ancient trees dot the landscape like living sculptures.
Canyon Treks & Coastal Drama
Begin the day with a scenic walk through Wadi Klisan, a hidden canyon filled with palm trees, freshwater pools, and quiet serenity. It’s a perfect spot for a swim or reflection in nature’s embrace. In the afternoon, drive east to the dramatic Arher Beach, where massive sand dunes descend straight into the sea.
Today, journey south through remote mountain villages and rocky escarpments en route to the fiery red sands of the Zaheq Dunes – a vast, otherworldly landscape where wind-swept dunes roll toward the ocean. Continue to the Dagub Cave, a sprawling natural chamber filled with intriguing rock formations and local lore.
Enjoy a leisurely morning before transferring to the airport for the flight to Ahu Dhabi (flight time subject to change).
