Best Time to Visit

Generally, the best time to visit Vietnam is during October to February when the temperature is mild and rain is minimal but it is best to divide the country into 3 different regions.

Being tropical, the southern part of Vietnam covering Ho Chi Minh city and the Mekong delta is consistent the whole year, but it is best during November to March, when the weather is slightly cooler and dry.

The central part of the country where Hoi An and Da Nang are is best visited in the dry season from February to September, with Jun and July being the hottest. There is a risk of typhoon when traveling to this part of the country during October to mid-December.

Northern Vietnam covering Hanoi, Halong Bay and the mountainous region of Sapa is best from October to March when the weather is dry and cool (sometimes cold in the mountain).

Avoid the first few days of TET (Chinese New Year) as most of the shops and restaurants are closed throughout the country.
