Bogota: Capital City Exploration
Spend a full day exploring Bogota, the third-highest capital in South America, situated at an average of 2,640m above sea level. Head to La Candelaria, the historic part of the city, distinguished by its numerous colonial-era architectures to discover the lovely colonial mansions, Plaza de Bolivar, the Cathedral of Colombia and the Capitol.
Keep your eyes peeled for over 50,000 pieces of gold and other materials exhibited in the Gold Museum. Next, ride a cable car to the summit of Sanctuary of Monserrate at 3,172m above sea level for panoramic views of the city on one side and the Andes on the other.
Stroll through the cobbled-stone paths of La Candelaria neighborhood to admire the colorful Spanish colonial houses and the vibrant wall murals and graffiti art, which are an artistic, social and political form of expression of the city inhabitants.
Salt Cathedral Excursion
After breakfast, travel to Zipaquirá through the Savannah for approximately 1.5 hours. Arrive at the impressive Salt Cathedral, where you will cross a tunnel inside the salt mine and walk until you get to the Cathedral. Continue to a mirror of water to experience the amazing visual effects of water on carved saline rock.
Guatavita Sacred Lake
Next, we will drive about 1.5 hour to the sacred Guatavita Lake at 3,000m, formerly inhabited by the Muisca people, also where the legend of El Dorado occurred. Hike about 2 hours to witness this beautiful lake within the forest reserve.
Thereafter, proceed to the quaint Guatavita town that is filled with white colonial houses.

We will explore places that best represent the social transformation of Medellin for the past 20 years, after the era of Pablo Escobar the drug lord ended. Today, Medellin is a bustling city with innovative urban design. Visit San Javier, or called Comuna 13, and delve into the dramatic history of this district.
Proceed to La Plazoleta located in the city centre which houses 23 sculptures of the renowned artist Fernando Botero.
Later, follow the footsteps of Carlos Gardel, who made Medellin the largest tango metropolis outside of Argentina. Soak yourself in the tango culture of Medellin.

Excursion to Guatape
Embark on a 2-hour scenic drive from Medellin to the town of Guatape, which means “stones and water” in Quechua. The Colombian government created the reservoir for a hydroelectric dam. In the middle sits the enormous 220m-tall Penol Rock. If you are full of energy, you may walk up the long flight of stairs with 740 steps to be rewarded with spectacular bird’s eye view of the lake and its tiny islands.
Visit the picturesque village of Guatape filled with pastel-colored houses. Then, enjoy a boat tour of the Guatape reservoir before travelling back to Medellin.
