Set in the southwest of China largely unknown to international travellers, the mountainous Guizhou province is an extravagant blend of natural wonders and man-made miracles.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01 Arrival in Guiyang

Upon arrival in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Optional tours can be taken if time permits:

  1. Hike the hill urban forest of Qianling Shan Park
  2. Explore Qingyan old town (one of Guizhou’s four ancient towns), the Ming-era abandoned fortress resting atop a mountain

Day 02 Guiyang / Anshun / Huangguoshu Waterfall

Drive 93km/1.5hr to Anshun. Visit Jichang’s Old Han Village where Ming architectures and ladies’ folk costumes is still prevalent, then catch a private Ground Opera unique to the area.

After lunch, head 46km/1hr to Huangguoshu Waterfall, China’s largest fall. Cruise through Longgong Caves (Dragon Palace), visit a floating stone forest and a Miao village hidden in the large cave.

Hop on cable car to Tianxingqiao Scenic Area to admire the caves and stone forests in water. Drive 192km/3hr to Xingyi via Balinghe Bridge, China’s 10th highest which measures 370m high from deck to water. Also visit Huajiang Grand Canyon, nicknamed China’s “earth crack” with its steep peaks and stone forest maze, cliffs-crashing river, waterfalls, swallet streams, stalactite caves and bizarre stones. Arriving in Xingyi, transfer and check in to your hotel.

Explore the Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks where grey-green karst formations jut out against yellow-green fields, followed by a hike around the deep rift of the Maling River Gorge.

Day 05 Xingyi / Pingtang

Depart 417km/5hrs to Pingtang County. Visit a platform to view this 500m Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), nicknamed Tianyan or Eye of Heaven (cameras, cellular phones and electronics are banned). Also visit Astronomy Museum.

Day 06 Pingtang / Libo

Drive 147km/2hr to Libo via the colossal Pingtang Bridge, world’s 2nd largest viaduct with 2nd tallest bridge structure ever built at 328m. This afternoon, you will visit the Seven Small Arches Scenic Area, blessed with natural splendour and authentic culture of Tujia and Yao minorities.

Day 07 Libo / Departure from Guiyang
