Upon arrival in Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, transfer to your hotel near to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport and spend the evening at leisure.
This morning, transfer to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport for check-in
Upon arrival in Nyingchi Mainling Airport, transfer to Basongtso. (2.5-hour drive).
In the afternoon, visit the Basong Tso holy lake and Tsozong Gongba Monastery located in the middle of the lake on Tashi Island. Basong Tso is a holy turquoise coloured alpine lake located in the middle and upper reaches of the Ba River, which is the largest tributary of the Nyang River (the longest tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo River).
This morning, travel to XinTso. Unlike the famous “sacred lake” Basongtso, XinTso is tucked away in the mountains, ideal for travelers seeking light hiking and a peaceful setting. Arrive at SangTong Ranch, the starting point for hiking. After a picnic lunch, take the new but challenging road through rough terrain. Along the winding trail through lush pastures and forests, you will reach the hidden, mystical lake deep in the jungle, surrounded by serene natural beauty. This spot offers a quiet, enchanting experience away from the crowds.
After breakfast, enjoy a hike along the BasongTso Lake then take the boat trip.
In the afternoon, drive for about two hours to Baiba. Upon arrival, take a 10-minute walk from Songtsam Glamping Palpa to reach a flat river valley pasture dotted with hawthorn, peach, and fir trees, where local residents graze yaks and go about their daily work. This serene area offers a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle and natural surroundings of the Baiba region, making it a peaceful stop for experiencing rural Tibetan culture.
After breakfast, head to the horse ranch near the camp. Experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step through saddling and leading horses to help you become a confident rider. For those seeking more excitement, a two-hour outdoor horseback ride led by an instructor is available, allowing you to explore the beautiful surroundings on horseback. This experience combines skill-building with the thrill of riding, set in the serene landscape around Songtsam Glamping Palpa, where guests can immerse themselves in local traditions and nature.
Be wowed by the majestic Potala Palace and UNESCO World Heritage site, an iconic emblem of Tibetan architectural prowess, perched at an elevation of 3,700m. Ascend its staircases to behold panoramic views of Lhasa and explore this treasury of Tibetan Buddhism, boasting a rich collection of ancient Tibetan artifacts, including frescos, stupas and Buddha images.
Please note that visiting time inside the Potala Palace and Museum is limited to 1 hour.
Jokhang Temple is the most sacred temple in Tibetan Buddhism, housing its most revered icon the Jowo Shakyamuni Buddha statue. Afterwards, visit Bakhor Street area in the heart of old Lhasa (originally a circumambulating circuit encircling the Jokhang Temple) for a slice of local Tibetan life!
Start your morning walk in Lhasa with a visit to traditional teahouses to enjoy Tibetan tea. Explore Barkhor Street, a lively pilgrimage route around Jokhang Temple filled with prayer wheels, shops, and local culture. Relax at the ancient city square by Jokhang, then browse Tromzikhang Market for Tibetan crafts. End by interacting with locals in a traditional courtyard for an authentic cultural experience.
Venture to Sera Monastery, renowned as one of Tibet’s best-preserved monastic complexes. Witness the famous “Monks Debate” here, a lively Buddhist educational practice that occurs on weekday afternoons, and a fun, captivating sight for visitors.
Enjoy a leisure morning. In the afternoon, transfer to airport for your flight back home.
