Canada is perhaps one of the best places in the world to catch the Northern Lights, with many parts of the country falling under the path of the Aurora Oval where most of the magic takes place from autumn to spring. emerald skies of the Yukon.

After a short jaunt in Vancouver, fly to rural Yukon and stay in a luxury B&B designed with Aurora viewing in mind. With 100 acres of land and mountain views from every room, you can catch the breath-taking emerald skies in the warmth and comfort of the lodge. Next, hop onto a ski-plane to a true wilderness experience in remote Tagish that’s inaccessible by roads, staying in a comfortable log cabin with plenty of engaging winter activities.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 01 ARRIVAL IN VANCOUVER

Be met and transferred to your hotel in Vancouver.

Optional:  Vancouver Highlights City Tour (4 hrs)

Take a 4-hour private tour to see the highlights of Vancouver and its unique neighborhoods of Chinatown, historic Gastown and fashionable Yaletown. Immerse yourself in Stanley Park and “see” the stories of Stanley Park’s TotemPoles. Pass by English Bay, visit Granville Island Market and The Lookout for 360° views of the Vancouver and coastal mountains.

Day 02 VANCOUVER / WHITEHORSE

Transfer to the airport for your 2.5 hrs flight to Whitehorse.

We will pick you up at the airport. You will have time to relax in your luxury bedroom or to join the cozy living room before dinner. Stay ready, the Northern Lights may show up! Explore the surrounds on your own on snow-shoes!

Afternoon, visit the Mush Dog Sledding Kennel and have plenty of time to interact with the friendly Alaskan huskies and chat with a passionate racing mushers about dog sledding in the far North. You will get all the explanation about caring for the dogs, racing, driving, surviving in the cold, winter camping…etc.

Yukon Wildlife Preserve & Takhini Hot Springs Tour

Be driven approx. 30 km to the Wildlife Preserve. The Yukon Wildlife Preserve & Takhini Hot Springs Tour is an excellent guided tour and great opportunities to view and photograph wildlife in its natural habitat: Dall Sheep, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Deer, Elk, Woodland Caribou, Wood Bison, Musk-Ox and Moose may be seen, usually up close! Take a short drive to Takhini Hot Springs. Relax in the hot water pool and enjoy the winter landscape. Coffee shop and desserts available at the hot springs (not included).

Alaskan Husky Team Mushing Tour (3-4 hrs)

Mush your own Alaskan husky team for a 25 km trip through the quietness of the boreal forest. Your experienced Musher will guide you safely with your dogs. A maximum of two participants at a time ensure an intimate trip with the canine athletes, your Musher and the Nature. You will be introduced to your friendly motivated Alaskan huskies team.  Quickly you feel their love to run. You can help to prepare your team for the run or step back and let our handlers getting everything ready for you. After “take-off”, the Masher stays close to you to provide you with any advice you may need to feel the first fears fly away (3-4 hours, good physical condition required )

Day 05 TAKHINI / WHITEHORSE / TAGISH

Ski-Plane to Tagish (30 min)

Transfer to Whitehorse Airport and continuation by ski-plane to Tagish – a scenic flight awaits you over the Whitehorse plateau, heading into the remote backcountry. After approx. 30 minutes, the plane lands on the frozen airfield of Tagish Lake. You will find yourself surrounded by pristine and untouched wilderness, with the next signs of civilisation miles away – inaccessible by road.

Time to settle in your log cabin and to enjoy a hot cup of coffee and some homemade pastry. At night, we venture on to the frozen Tagish Lake for Northern Lights Viewing. For your comfort, we have a campfire going in front of a traditional spruce shelter, hot beverages and thick blankets keep you warm until the spectacle unfolds.

Snow-Mobiling Adventure (Half Day)

Go on a half-day snow-mobiling adventure! With no roads and vehicles in your way, snowmobiling on Tagish Lake is an entirely different experience!

Ice Fishing

Afternoon, head out into the wild for ice fishing – if you are lucky, you might even catch dinner.

In the evening, you are welcome to relax in our wood heated  sauna.

Day 07 TAGISH / WHITEHORSE / VANCOUVER

Have a free morning snow-shoeing and exploring the area. Around noon, the ski-plane will again pick you up and bring you back to Whitehorse. 

Connect your onward 2.5hr flight back to Vancouver.
