Potsdam Private Excursion from Berlin (Full Day)
Meet your driver and guide at your hotel lobby for the excursion to Potsdam.
Potsdam is best known for its magnificent palaces and parks (UNESCO World heritage sites) that date back to its time as the former royal seat of Prussia. During the tour you will see the highlights of this city including the Glienicke Bridge. This bridge connects Potsdam and Berlin and is the place where East and West exchanged secret agents and spies during the Cold War.
Your next stop is Cecilienhof Palace, which was the last castle built by the Hohenzollern dynasty. The Potsdam Conference took place there in 1945, at which the four victorious powers decided to divide Berlin and Germany. Afterwards you are going to visit the Dutch Quarter and the famous Nauener and Brandenburg Gates.
Afterwards you continue to the famous Palace Sanssouci. No other castle is more closely associated with Frederick the Great than Sanssouci. It was his summer residence and the name Sanssouci – “without worries” – should be understood as the striving and leitmotif of the king. There the king preferred to surround himself with his closest friends, the intellectual elite of his court and enlightened scientists and writers from Italy and France.

The charming town of Luneburg has a rich Hanseatic history. Salt mining once was a source of wealth for its inhabitants, as the architectural ensemble of the city, which has been perfectly preserved to this day, attests to. Stroll through the old centre with a guide, along the legendary "Salzböschung" at the Ilmenau and the fish market Stintmarkt and learn a lot of interesting things about the Hanseatic past of this city. Special to the region is the Lüneburger Heide Nature Park. Picturesque meadows covered with juniper, heather and flowers make this place attractive for hiking, cycling or horse riding.
