When the rest of Asia is taking off at a fast pace, Laos seems contented to keep it simple. There is a sense of inner peace and the unhurried lifestyle of the Laotian will make urban dwellers slow down our footsteps on a visit to Laos.

Idyllic Luang Prabang is a must for every visitor to Laos. Sitting at the confluence of the Nam Khan and the Mekong Rivers, the UNESCO listed city is alluring. Visit the local morning market, enjoy picnic at Kuang Si waterfall, spend time touring the ground of the impressive Wat Xieng Thong Temple and learn more about the monastic lives of the monks. Our Travel Specialist will also suggest detouring to Northern Laos to explore this hidden and beautiful region and meet the ethnic minorities that inhabit the mountains and valleys.

Further South, Vientiane, the capital of Laos, with tree-lined boulevards and old temples still retains an atmosphere of timelessness. It is the gateway to explore the less discovered area of Southern Laos with impressive sights such as Si Phan Done, 4000 islands, Wat Phou and Champasak. If you have more time, fly to Phonsavan and be intrigue by the mysterious Plain of Jars scattered throughout the plains.

Best Time to Visit

Laos is best visited between October and March when the weather is cool and dry. Due to slash and burn in and around Luang Prabang by the farmers starting from around end February right till monsoon season in May, the smoke-filled skies can cause respiratory related issues.

The water level along the Mekong River has reached historic low due to global warming, reduced rainfall and more so from the dam in China. For travellers planning a river journey, the best period will be from November to January when the water level is relatively high.
