Upon arrival in Lima, transfer to hotel for a rest after a long flight. Be treated to a welcome dinner.
Lima, together and Mexico City are the 2 main Viceroys of the Spanish in Latin America and hence endowed with some of the most extravagant Spanish colonial architectures.
Head to the main square flourished with some of the best edifices as well as private mansion such as Casa Aliaga and Convent Santo Domingo. Visit the Larco Museum, showcasing 3,000 years of Pre-columbian history.
Fly to Arequipa, a beautiful city surrounded by volcanoes and mountains; and endowed with distinctive colonial charm with lovely buildings of white volcanic stones.
We will explore the city visiting Plaza de Armas, Carmen Alto Viewpoint and Santa Catalina Convent. A special experience here is the Museum of Andean Sanctuaries for the Juanita Mummies.
Embark on a scenic morning drive (about 3 hours or 177km) as we drive past snow-covered volcanoes, cross inhospitable pampas, and encounter incredibly beautiful quaint villages, before finally arriving in the Colca Valley.
Colca Canyon is South America’s answer to US’s Grand Canyon. We will explore the canyon in the afternoon before relaxing the evening in a luxurious Belmond resort.
Another morning of spectacular drive (about 5 hours or 300km). Enroute, look out for the Andean Condor and stop at the viewpoint across one of the world’s deepest canyons (4,160m) deep at the northern end and (3,600m) deep on its southern end).
Arrive at Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, sitting at 3,812m above sea level. The deep colour of the water contrasted distinctly with the red earth of the surrounding landscape and the clear blue sky. Proceed to check in to the exclusive Titilaka Lodge, away from it all while indulging in all modern luxury.
This will be a day filled with great adventures, starting off with a breath-taking sunrise (or some may prefer to sleep-in). Then, visit the unique Uros Island floating reed islands and meet one of the indigenous families that live on these unique islands.
Continue to visit Taquile Island, where we will learn why their textile art has been declared one of the masterworks of Oral and Intangible Heritage by UNESCO.
Another superlative Peruvian Experience today! Set off for one of the world’s highest rail journeys onboard the luxurious Belmond (former Orient Express) Train! Enjoy the ever-changing landscape of snow-capped volcanoes, wild pampas, and fertile valleys; stop at the highest point; and indulge in gourmet lunch, cocktails, and dinners!
Disembark at Cusco this morning and drive about 55 km or 1.5 hours into the Sacred Valley, the most important agricultural heartland of the Incas Empire. Discover Inca’s historical sites, colourful Indian Markets and be mesmerized by the sceneries. We will spend two days exploring the area with endless Intriq surprises!
Today, visit the Lamay Village off the beaten path to appreciate Andean’s way of life and indulge in a 7-course lunch in a hacienda! Then, move on to Ollantaytambo, ranking perhaps only behind Machu Picchu as the top Incas site. Experience the ancient offering ritual to express gratitude to Mother Earth.
After breakfast, we will go for on a short hike in the Andes, accompanied by local people and their pack llamas, experience their daily life for thousands of years. Thereafter, enjoy a picnic lunch with amazing view of Lake Huaypo. Proceed to Moray Archaeological site where you will be amazed by the ancient Inca’s agricultural marvel and Maras Incas Salt Pan.
This evening, a gourmet experience Hacienda Huayoccari, a 17th century estate with endless antiques and artworks.
Finally, it is Machu Picchu!
Take the glass top train to Aguas Caliente and make your way to this wonder of the world! Not only does the setting take your breath away, but numerous details also make you even more amazed by this Incas architectural marvel. Spend the night in the nearby luxury resort to allow you to wander and immerse in the ambience of this ancient wonder in late afternoon and early morning without the day trip crowds.
We have more time this morning and you have several options of trails to get to different viewpoints depending on your fitness levels.
In the evening, enjoy a Belmond (Orient Express) train journey with fine dining onboard, as we make our way over mountain and valleys back to Cusco for the night.
Capital of the Incas Empire and an important Spanish colonial city, Cusco offers endless wonderful sights. Go on a walking tour visiting Archbishop Palace, Church of San Blas, Plaza Armas and Santo Domingo Church. Discover remnants of Incas at some most unexpected corners. The most fascinating Incas site will certainly be the Sacsayhuaman Fortress with its impressive giant stonework.
Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at the Golden Room of MAP (Pre-Columbia Art Museum).
Free at leisure until transfer to airport for your flight to Lima and connect with your international flight out.
