The route traverses forested flatlands to verdant rice fields and a stunning coastline backed by the mountains of the East Rift Valley, ending in Taitung.

The day is at your leisure to explore this bustling metropolis – do not miss the world-famous National Museum to see the finest Chinese artwork, whizz through the night markets, get your bubble tea fix and shoot up to the 89th floor of Taiwan 101 for a 360 panoramic view from this iconic landmark.

Welcome dinner at Toh-A Restaurant, which features Taiwanese fusion cuisine with an omakase menu in an elegant French setting.

20 Mar, Sun Taipei / Hualien / Ruisui
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

After breakfast, transfer to Hualien by train where you will meet up with your cycling team who will look after you for the next few days. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will be driven to your hotel for check-in, with a visit to an indigenous fish farm en route to learn more about the local culture.

At your hotel today, your cycling team will start to prepare and adjust the bikes to your measurements for your upcoming cycling journey and conduct a safety briefing before a warm-up test ride to nearby Danongdafu Forest Park, a reforestation project that is Taiwan’s first flatland forest of 1,250 hectare with picturesque fields of flowers and woodlands, a perfect place to kickstart your cycling adventure before returning to your hotel for dinner.

Your resort is in the Ruisui hot springs area, and is a great opportunity to enjoy a relaxing soak in the mineral rich waters before calling it a night.

Total cycling: approx. 17km, 1hr

Day 03
21 Mar, Mon Ruisui / Yuli / Ruisui

21 Mar, Mon Ruisui / Yuli / Ruisui
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

Enjoy a relaxing morning – there are many trails in Fuyuan Forest Recreation Area where your resort is located and we recommend taking a stroll to Long Ying Waterfall, the star attraction of the area. Your resort is also aptly named for its butterfly sightings – more than 30 species have been recorded here.

In the late morning, commence your cycling adventure down Route No. 193, the longest County Highway in the country and runs parallel with the East Rift Valley. This is one of the best cycling routes in Taiwan, a smooth countryside path with less traffic and a vast pretty landscape of green rice fields. You will hit the 10km Yufu Bikeway as you approach Yuli, an old train track repurposed as a bikeway.

From Yuli, you will return by van to your hotel (approx. 40min drive) to freshen up before dinner. In the evening, enjoy one more soak in the hot springs to relax your muscles after the day of cycling.

Total cycling: approx. 40km, 4-5hrs including breaks and photo stops

Day 04
22 Mar, Tue Ruisui / Chisang

22 Mar, Tue Ruisui / Chisang
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

After breakfast, check-out of your hotel and transfer to Yuli (approx. 1hr drive) to continue where we left off yesterday. Your luggage will be safely stowed on the support vehicle so you can enjoy a hassle-free cycle with a peace of mind.

Today’s route is a similar landscape of rice paddy fields, taking the Zhoufu Country Road away from heavy traffic and people. Dotted along the landscape are aboriginal tribes where you can experience their unique architecture and cultures. As we approach Chisang Township, ride through Mr Brown Avenue, made popular by a commercial by Mr Brown Coffee, featuring a stunning landscape of fields against a mountainous backdrop without a single wire pole along the roadside.

End the trip directly at your hotel, where you have the rest of the evening at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities and dinner at their restaurant.

Total cycling: approx. 43km, 4-5hrs including breaks and photo stops

Day 05
23 Mar, Wed Chisang / Taitung

23 Mar, Wed Chisang / Taitung
Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and be transferred to the dramatic landscape of the East Coast (approx. 1hr drive). The East Rift Valley was formed by the convergence of the Philippine and Eurasian tectonic plates, creating a stunning mountain range that hugs the coast.

You will start from Nimpu village, cycling along the scenic coast before reaching Chenggon for a seafood lunch at a local restaurant. View the local landmark – Sanxiantai Arch Bridge, before continuing your journey with several photo stops, including Donghe Bridge, Dulan Sugar Factory, and the Jialulan Recreation Area before arriving into Taitung.

Check into your hotel where you bid farewell to your cycling team and enjoy dinner in the hotel. If you are not too tired, you could head out to explore the night markets in the evening  at your leisure.

This is an open-air forest museum that was a former aboriginal tribal site, and resembles a scene from the movie Avatar, with lush forests and protected giant Banyan trees. Here you can learn about the forest conservation and the cultural practices of the aboriginal people, including a tribal meal and also learning to make mocha dessert.

In the evening, we will arrange a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
