This trip is designed to cover UNESCO Geopark in Sai Kung uncovering numerous islands with unique volcanic rock. The Tai O old fishing village finding a disappear fishing village and idyllic life.
Upon arrival into Hong Kong, you will meet your driver who will take you to Tai O, an age-old fishing village, where you will transfer to a speedboat for a 2-min ride to your accommodation, a former marine police station built in 1902 that has been lovingly restored into a heritage hotel.
Your first day in Hong Kong is at your leisure to soak up the idyllic village atmosphere which is reminiscence of life in Hong Kong decades ago. Take a 20-min boat ride along the Tai O River to gives the best view of the village and its traditional stilt-houses, visit the Tai O dried seafood market or enjoy a coffee in one of the stilt house café terraces overlooking the river as the sun dips below the horizon.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer to the east coast of Lantau Island for your Mui Wo & Silver Mine Bay Waterfall Hiking Tour (6 – 7hrs). Your destination is in Silver Mine Bay, aptly named after the silver mines that once operated along the river that flows through the village. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Mui Wo which has resisted rapid urbanisation as you begin your trek through the village streets and head into the countryside, where you see some historical landmarks, including Yick Yuen Villa, Pak Tai Temple, Chung Hau Old Mansion, and of course, the beautiful Silver Mine Bay Waterfall & Cave.
Enjoy lunch in Mui Wo before your transfer back to Tai O in the afternoon.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before your transfer by speedboat and private vehicle to your hotel in Sai Kung. This is Hong Kong’s second-largest region with a low-key vibe and beautiful natural landscape dotted with fishing villages, hiking trails, beaches and islands.
For some local action, take a taxi to Sai Kung Town to catch the fishermen sell fresh catches from their boats just off the pier, and feast on Michelin-starred seafood delights around Sai Kung’s Seafood Street. at a local eatery. Outdoor enthusiasts will feel at home here, with country parks covering most of the area, such as the UNESCO Global Geopark to Sai Kung Country Park East and West. We will be happy to recommend the nature trails best suited to you, or can arrange an experienced guide to take you to the best nature trails and hidden gems.
Rise early today to enjoy a half-day trip (4 – 5hrs) to one of Hong Kong’s most impressive landscapes – the Sai Kung UNESCEO Geopark consists of numerous scenic islands and peninsulas, with unique volcanic rock formations, ancient caldera, steep cliffs, sea arches, and striking hexagonal rock columns. Embark on a Geopark boat trip (on shared basis, 20pax maximum) with a professional guide covering Sharp Island and its unique Pineapple Bun boulders, the hexagonal rock columns on High Island and Po Pin Chau and a stroll on Yim Tin Tsai Island which was once known for its salt farms and now has an abandoned town vibe.
After the tour, return to your hotel for your transfer to your hotel in Hong Kong’s city centre.
