Upon arrival at Maun International Airport, you will be assisted to your charter flight to Tsigaro Airstrip (approximately 55min flight) in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, then a game drive transfer to Camp Kalahari.
One of only three camps in a 1 million acre private wildlife reserve, the safari experience at Camp Kalahari is phenomenal. Here the living desert is constantly full of surprises. At first sight, the lunar-like salt pans appear devoid of life, but in the hands of the of the knowledgeable camp guides the story of the Makgadikgadi begins to unfold. The iconic Makgadikgadi Pans, stark and hypnotic, is the closest thing on the earth to the rugged surface of the moon. Enjoy game drives passing herds of springbok, gemsbok, and red hartebeest, and at night, brush by packs of brown hyena, bat eared foxes and the elusive black-maned Kalahari lion. This is the ultimate safari in Botswana highlighting iconic wildlife and mesmerising landscapes. Your journey is also one of the best time to witness the spectacular migration of zebra – the biggest in Africa and the last remaining in Southern Africa.
Enjoy another day in the Kalahari Dessert with extraordinary activities, which you can discuss with your experienced safari guides, from a morning hike for scenic vistas, a hunt for stone tools in the crusty salt flats of the enormous Sowa Pan, getting up close and personal with the habituated playful meerkats, or walking and interacting with a group of Zu/’hoasi Bushmen to gain insight into their ancient culture. After breakfast, enjoy a game drive to Tsigaro Airstrip for your charter flight to Nxabega Airstrip (approximately 80min flight). Your first flight over this pristine water wilderness will leave lasting impressions. Be sure to keep a look out for hippos in the waterways and elephants amongst the trees.
