You will be transferred from your safari lodge in Eastern Cape area to Knysna. Along the way, we will make a few sightseeing stops.

Highlights of Garden Route

Immerse in the beauty of Tsitsikamma National Park, proclaimed as Africa’s first Marine National Park in 1964 and offering spectacular seascapes of the Indian ocean, rocky shores, ever-green forests and fynbos rolling into the sea. Visit the Monkeyland for a guided walking safari through the indigenous forest of the world’s first free-roaming primate sanctuary, as well as a walk through the boardwalks of Birds of Eden (the world’s largest free-flight bird aviary) where you can marvel at over 3,500 specimens from over 280 species.

Knysna

Unravelling the Charms of Knysna

Explore the art and craft shops along the quaint town of Knysna, built on a lagoon that serves as part of a National Lake Area. You will have the chance to visit the Knysna Elephant Park for an opportunity to feed and walk amongst herds of African elephants (1 hour, between 11am-2pm only). Hop onboard a ferry for a 25-minute cruise to the Western Head, where you will be transported on a 4WD or a trailer for a Featherbed Eco Experience, with an optional 2.2km guided walk through the reserve before returning to the mainland by ferry.

You will be transferred from Knysna to Oudtshoorn.

Caves, Ranch & Ostrich

Explore the Cango Caves with its fascinating limestone formation and renowned as one of the world’s great natural wonders. Embark on a tour through the different habitats of the Cango Wildlife Ranch, established in 1977. Hop onboard a tractor ride through a working ostrich farm to get to know the world’s biggest bird and end with an “Ostrich Derby” as you witness local jockeys displaying their ostrich riding skills.

Oudtshoorn / Whale Coast

Transfer: Oudtshoorn to Whale Coast via Route 62

You will be transferred from Oudtshoorn to your accommodation along the Whale Coast. The journey will take you through Route 62, renowned for its fascinating landscapes, towering mountain cliffs, crystal clear streams, lush trees and indigenous flora.

Whale Coast

Option 1: Activities at Mosaic Lagoon Lodge

Guests staying at Mosaic Lagoon Lodge enjoys twice daily group activities such as 4WD beach excursion, fynbos safari, SUP on the Hermanus Lagoon (lessons are available at an additional cost), boating and kayaking, mountain biking, as well as guided nature walks to get acquainted with birds and flora of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

If weather permits, optional whale-watching cruise can also be arranged at an additional cost. The whale season typically occurs between June to November. If luck is on your side, you may be able to spot whales, dolphins, Cape Fur Seals and African penguins during the cruise.

Option 2: Activities at Grootbos

Guests staying at Grootbos can look forward to activities such as horse-riding, botanical fynbos hike, Milkwood Forest walk, 4WD flower safari, coastal drive for land-based whale watching (typically July-December), beach picnics, ancient Klipgat Cave and Walker Bay Nature Reserve excursion, bird-watching, etc.

If weather permits, optional Marine Big 5 cruise can be arranged. Between January to May, you may be lucky to spot Bryde’s or Humpback whales, sharks, dolphins, seals, penguins and various seabirds. Between June to December, sightings may potentially include Southern Right whales, Bryde’s or Humpback whales, sharks, dolphins, seals, penguins and various seabirds.

You will be transferred from your accommodation in Whale Coast to Cape Town.

Table Mountain & Cape Town Orientation

Ascend Table Mountain by cable car (weather permitting) for a sensational view of the city bowls. We have included a fast-track ticket so that you can skip the queue to the top. Returning to the city, you will be driven past the colorful Malay Quarter, Castle of Good Hope, Houses of Parliament and the Company Gardens. Travel to the Sea Point and Camp’s Bay for scenic ocean vistas. If time permits, we can also visit the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.

Finest of Cape Peninsula

Embark on a leisurely journey that invites you to savor the breathtaking beauty of the Cape Peninsula. Set forth towards the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, traveling along one of South Africa’s most picturesque routes, passing through the charming Hout Bay. Delight in a scenic cruise to Seal Island, where you can witness playful seals and vibrant seabirds at Duiker Island (weather permitting). Continue along the stunning Chapman’s Peak Drive (conditions permitting), leading you to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Ascend to the summit aboard the funicular where the views will leave you in awe, visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, and visit the historic naval base of Simon’s Town.

Kirtenbosch Botanical Gardens

Explore the celebrated Kirtenbosch where you will learn about various indigenous South African flora, such as fynbos, proteas, cycads and rolling lawns. There is also a treetop canopy walkway where you can experience the forest from elevated viewpoint that meanders through the tree branches.
